If you’re running a home service business, you’ve likely heard the buzz—or perhaps experienced it firsthand—about Google Business Profile (GBP) updates not showing in live listings.
As of April 23, 2025, business owners and agencies around the globe have reported that while they can still create and publish posts, these updates aren’t visible to the public on Google Search or Maps.
In this post, we’ll share what’s happening, possible reasons for the disappearance, and steps you can take to stay ahead while Google addresses (or at least acknowledges) the issue.
You can still post updates in the backend, but the section just doesn’t show at all on any posts of the profiles.
Reported on April 23, 2025, this widespread problem is causing the “Updates” or “From the Business” section to vanish from live Google Business Profiles. You may be able to successfully create searchable posts (Offers, Events, What’s New) in the backend, but they aren’t visible to the public when they view your live listing.
• Updates are not displaying to users
• “Updates” or “From the Business” section is completely missing
• Global scale: reported in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, India, and more
• Affects both desktop and mobile views.
• Global Outage: This is not a regional or niche issue—reports are pouring in from across the world.
• Backend Still Works: The “Add Update” or “Create Post” function remains available and appears normal in the GBP dashboard.
• Live Profile Issue: Updates simply don’t render once published. They might appear published internally, but are invisible publicly.
• No Official Word: Google hasn’t acknowledged or commented on this issue, nor has it posted any alerts on its status dashboard.
Google occasionally rolls out backend tweaks or front-end tests that result in unexpected behavior. This might just be a glitch affecting how updates get displayed.
Google is known for conducting layout experiments. If they’re trying a new design, some sections (like the “Updates” panel) might be temporarily hidden in certain scenarios.
It’s possible Google is refining or restricting what posts show up publicly, perhaps based on content type, trust level, or relevance—though we’re lacking confirmation.
Our own Digital Shift team tested posting on April 23rd from a Google Business Profile. The post shows as “published” in our internal reporting portal, yet it remains invisible on the live listing when checking Google Search and Google Maps. This confirms that while the backend and reporting infrastructure see the post as active, the front-end display is missing.
Continue creating offers and updates. If this glitch is temporary, your posts may retroactively appear once it’s resolved.
Check desktop vs. mobile, and compare Search vs. Maps. Some users see partial visibility on one platform but complete disappearance on another.
Maintain logs, screenshots, and dates whenever you publish new posts. If Google later requests more information, you’ll have evidence handy.
We recommend waiting for an official update.
This unconfirmed issue is disruptive—especially for home service businesses relying on GBP posts to communicate real-time promotions and updates to customers. While we wait for an official statement or fix from Google, following the steps above can help safeguard your online presence.
If this evolves into a permanent change or splits off into a new feature, we’ll update this post to keep you informed.
